The Secrets to Get More Traffic to your Site
Search engines rank sites based on three major things:
- Relevancy of Content (and how well it is presented)
- How many other sites link to you
- How up to date the content is
We will be looking into these three key points in newsletters and articles to come, but let's skip straight to the way we can boost search engine results and get more visitors to your site!
Recently one of our clients commissioned us to run a drive for more traffic. We came up with a list of actions to be taken to guarantee more traffic and more sales!
Stage One - The FREE stuff!
These are all things you can do for yourself - 30 minutes per night for a week will have a MASSIVE effect!
- Get into Business Directories
- If you read the feature above this will instantly make sense.
- Some Directories are fully automated, some are run manually
- Some Directories are free to use, some require you to join their membership, some charge a fee.
- Don't be put off by a small Directory - it might be small but if the majority of the traffic to the site are looking for exactly what is in the Directory and you are in it, it is a great placement!
- Make a list of the Directories you join and plan to join at least one a month.
- Contact non-conflicting sites and ask them to exchange links
- This often works best at a very local level, or with specialist niche markets.
- This is a great way to start & develop real business relationships
- A site might ask to see the page you link to them from before they add a link to your site.
- Add more content to your Site
- This is something we will be covering in much greater detail in the following months, but for now, get thinking about what information you know that other people might be interested in.
- Make a list of content you could add to your site that helps identify you as a specialist in your field
- This content can also be released into a Content Sharing Community, including a credit and link back to your site - great for extra hits!
- Submit your site to all the major search engines
- This is something you can do from your control panel for free!
- Log in to your control panel at http://www.extendcp.com
-
Select 'Site Tools' > 'Search Engine Submission' and then click submit
