Technology Working Harder
E-mails on the move keep you better-connected - in and out of the office!
As our Company mobile phone contracts come to a close, following 18 months enjoying high levels of air-time and text messaging, it was time once again to re-asess what the industry has to offer. The thing that has very much caught our eye this time around is the Blackberry. One of the best ways to receive e-mail 'on the go', the handsets appear easy-to-use and the software even easier!
We thought we would take a look at a few of them, the costs involved and where we could go for more information...

Small and Lightweight
First impressions count!
The first thing to note about the new range of Blackberry's (or is it Blackberries?) is the size. Initial handsets, released a few years ago now, were shunned for being big, bulky and ugly. Now, handsets available - prices staring from £150, depending on the package you are on - are sleek, small and lightweight. Add that to the fact that they are faster and more powerful, it is clear this is a technology moving in the right and obvious direction!
Small is great, but can I still use the thing?
Aesthetics meets Ergonomics in the ultimate challnge for technology
This is an area it seems Blackberry have thought long and hard about and it seems they have come up with a good middle-ground. Mike Beatty from Pulse Marketing bought three Blackberry handsets for his staff only a few months back and he hasn't looked back!
"Using it is so easy. When I'm on a call I can scroll through my calendar, contacts list, e-mails and text massages with the scroll wheel on the side. The keyboard took a little bit of getting used to, but it makes sense being the same as the laptop keyboard I use all day!"
The keyboard is what is known as QWERTY - significant of the first six alphabetical letters found on the top row of the keyboard. Adopting for a wider keyboard layout than found on most mobile phones means that the handset can offer a much larger screen area - another BIG bonus to this office-in-a-pocket.
Costs
Down to the Crunch - How Much and for How Long?
One thing that quickly becomes apparent when shopping around for a mobile e-mail technology is that the costings are as varied as they are for mobile phones. If you do a lot of talking but only send 5 or 10 e-mails per week, Tariff X from Provider A is right for you. If you primarily send e-mails and want to keep your phone for voice calls, Tariff Y from Provider B is for you.
